“Ellen Gordon Gordon, in paintings that are at once clear in organization and pleasingly informal in execution, strikes a persuasive balance between hard and soft, cold and warm, logic and intuition.” —Ben Forgey, The Washington Post

In my painting, I am investigating dynamic energy within a serene space. Painting reminds me that everything that appears solid and static is made of atoms that are mostly empty space and continuously moving. A lifelong love of Japanese art and culture, beginning with living in Japan as a child, also influences my art. Early in my career, I was an art teacher and a painting assistant to Washington Color School artist, Gene Davis. From 1990 to 2014, I was represented by and regularly exhibited at the Alla Rogers Gallery in Georgetown.

Currently, I paint and show new work at my studio in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
